Kirkby Stephen Individual Female Sale
13th February 2025
A great show of females was on offer at Kirkby Stephen Individual female sale last night, with Champion honours going to Paul Hallam & family, High Birkwith. Pre-sale show judge, John Tunstall chose the 1st prize ewe as his Champion, by Oakbank Endeavour with a Patch-sired mother, she sold for £5,000 carrying a single to the £9000 Rob Cloughton tup, to John Tully, Burncroft Farm.
Burncroft also took home the Reserve Champion from Rob Hutchinson, Valley Farm. Sired by a John Tully tup and carrying twins to the £35,000 Folder tup, she stood 2nd to the Champion in the ewe class and sold for £3,000. Valley Farm also had success in selling their second ewe into the ring, this one sired by the Andrew Marston tup and inlamb to the £11,000 John Bland, sold for £1500 to Gordon Cartmel.
Next up, Tom Hutchinson, Bail Hill claimed 1st Prize Gimmer Shearling with a Kingshaugh Harry daughter, and out of a Busk Uranium sired dam. She sold scanned twins to the homebred Kingshaugh Jonty to Robert White, Rigg Farm for £2000.
Following this, Luke Staley, Poppin Cottage sold his 3rd prize ewe for £1500 to Sean Tully. This £24,000 Valley Illusion daughter was out of a ewe by Gillside Emerald, and was inlamb to the £12,000 Stoney Hill Phantom purchased jointly at Middleton last Autumn.
