A small, yet select sale at Hawes on Saturday of individual inlamb females and empty ewe hoggs, saw Paul and Sue Hallam and family, High Birkwith enjoy a successful day, taking the Champion rosette with their 1st prize ewe. Sired by Oakbank General and out of a ‘Patch’ bred ewe, she sold inlamb carrying twins to Oakbank Endeavour 2, for the day’s top price, £2,600, to John Tully, Burncroft, Eggleston.

The Reserve Champion, also came from the Hallam’s, with their 1st Prize Gimmer Shearling. A daughter of the Hallam’s homebred son off Oakbank Endeavour, with her mother being sired by the £92,000 Christine Clarkson’s Kisdon Lovely; she sold inlamb to a homebred son of Oakbank General for £2,500, again to John Tully.

Following on from the Champion’s, the 1st prize ewe hogg consigned by John Bland, Thwaite Bridge, sired by a Brian Thornborrow tup, sold for £1,000 to Shaun Tully.

Averages:

7 Ewes – £426
